National Secondary Leaders Network Event at Blue Coat
Last week, Inspire Education Trust was proud to see Blue Coat CofE School Coventry host the National Secondary Leaders Network, welcoming young leaders, adult leaders, chaplains and education partners from across the country for an inspiring day focused on hope, community and pupil leadership.
The event, themed Inclusive Community: Becoming Beacons in Your Community, explored how schools can empower young people to lead with compassion, confidence and purpose while building inclusive and flourishing communities. Throughout the day, pupils and adult leaders took part in reflective worship, leadership workshops, keynote sessions and discussions centred around reconciliation, belonging, faith and civic action.
A key theme throughout the event was the importance of placing young people at the centre of leadership opportunities and giving them the confidence and agency to shape positive change within their schools and communities.
Rob Darling, Deputy CEO of Inspire Education Trust, reflected on the opening of the event, saying:
“What a fabulous start to the morning with our young people setting us off in song. One of my favourite moments was hearing Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. It really underlined the hope that was not only on the programme but present throughout the room. Our young people are champions of the future and seeing the day begin in worship and song was fantastic.”
Lois Whitehouse, CEO of Inspire Education Trust, added:
“It’s absolutely fantastic to be here at Blue Coat today. It was great listening to Bishop Sophie Jelley speaking about hopeful expectations and what that means for everyone. It was also wonderful hearing about the importance of the hope we have in our young people and the hope they have in us too.”
Throughout the day, participants engaged with national organisations including the National Society for Education, the Reconciling Schools Network, FLOURISH, the Growing Faith Foundation and the Archbishop’s Young Leaders Award. Workshops and student leadership panels encouraged meaningful conversations around difference, reconciliation and the role schools play as anchors of hope within their communities.
The event concluded with reflection and praise, leaving both students and staff feeling inspired, energised and hopeful for the future.
Inspire Education Trust would like to thank the National Society for Education for entrusting Blue Coat with hosting such a meaningful and impactful national event. It was a privilege to see so many passionate young and adult leaders come together for a day celebrating leadership, inclusion and the power of hope within education.
