Frederick Bird Hosts Second Annual Community Iftar

Last night, Frederick Bird Academy hosted its second annual Community Iftar.

The evening began with a welcome from Headteacher Michelle Porter, our CEO and one of our pupils, who spoke about the importance of community, respect and understanding across different faiths and backgrounds.

Zak Khan then spoke about Ramadan and the etiquette of Ramadan. He explained the meaning behind fasting and its significance. This was followed by a quiz, which the children enjoyed, with sweets given for correct answers.

Mr Serazul Alam then spoke about the deeper meaning of Ramadan and the significance of its timing this year. He led the Azaan, marking the time to break the fast. Those who wished to pray did so, while others gathered to share food. The meal, kindly provided by Friends Corner, was enjoyed by all.

The evening brought together families, staff and members of the wider community. People of Muslim and other faiths shared food and conversation in a spirit of unity. Events like this reflect Frederick Bird’s commitment to inclusion and community. It was a meaningful and positive evening for all involved.

Ramadan Mubarak to those observing.
